So…. I am going to catch us the rest of the way up… I swear!
eventually…
So… lets see… I drove to SoCal from Park City in one day…
Finally made around 11:30pm pacific. That’s a long drive 80 mph speed limit included.
Trevor met me at the car with a big hug!
We spent a little while chatting with his hilarious boss lady and a glass of wine.
Then we went back to his house where I met his parents and had another chat… and another glass of wine.
Wine-ding down was nice.
We hung out a little while before going to bed and sleeping til noon… mountain time.
A top down in the sunshine convertible tour of Trevor’s hometown,
followed by a delicious breakfast with Trevor’s parents at a cool little cafe made for a relaxing morning.
Then we repacked the car and got on the road… next stop, Vegas!
So here’s our cast and crew for the remainder of the road trip.

Look, I’m not driving!!!!!
Finally able to take pictures from the road
without fear of collision.
After 10 hours the day before, Shelby is less that enthused for more.

The newest addition to our adventures, Trevor.
This is who I was looking forward to kidnapping…
…and dreading getting arrested with.
California Mountains… Trevor claims they’re real mountains… I don’t know if i believe him.
OOOhh trains and windmills!  I love windmills!

More windmills! Theres millions of ’em! well… thousands.

In search of whitewater… the sign said it would be here somewhere!

Woo!! we found whitewater!  not much mind you, but we found it!
Danger will robinson!
actually, we’re kinda hoping for a flashflood!
Balloon!
Who gets to see a hot air balloon?? This kid!

More Balloon! I was pretty stoked.

Next stop, Vegas!
You won’t get all the details… but you’ll get some.

by the way, if you’re wondering why its taking me so long to catch up… it’s not because i’m too busy with adventures… it’s mostly because i’m lazy. and distracted.

Leaving a lack of snow behind

Finally headed out of the lands of snow…. not that i saw much of it….
But I had such a great time with my ski bum friends!
My prayer, as I drove south, was for the snow to come pounding down shortly after my departure.
2 weeks later, they finally got it!
By then, I was back east with even more adventures under my belt.
I think it’s time I got around to sharing those.
So I left Utah headed for southern California…
Ten and a half hours before stops…
The plan, pick up my good friend Trevor and cause some trouble in Vegas.
On the road again…

For once, the scenic route is actually faster… well relatively…
I mean, how much difference does 30 minutes make when you’re driving 11+hours?
Self portrait reflected in my super hi-tech GPS/stereo system… my laptop.
One of the more interesting of the hundreds of construction sites I’ve seen this year.

Never did get a clear shot of a sign… but the speed limit driving south across Utah fluxed between 70 and 80mph…
Hooray! Cruising at an ever decreasing altitude…
Took me just over one tank of gas to cross nearly the whole  massive state!
Thank You Gravity!
WTF?
But the guy next to the building can pee on the wall?
Yep.

My post sunset view… it varied a little bit… but yeah… alot of this.

I’m in Baker California, self proclaimed gateway to Death Valley.
gas is $4+/gal… and I’ve got a leak. crap.
Well the power steering’s been whining…
I am 100% sure that it isn’t oil, brake, or tranny fluid so it must be the power steering… right??
I checked all the levels, everything seems fine… Car isn’t acting weird at all…
So I let it go…. in 2 days, I will learn my mistake.

DINOSAUR!

When we left off, our intrepid heroes were walking back for a huge bonfire in the brutal cold….
So then next morning, hehe… morning… yeah, thats when it was…
Anyhoo, we said our goodbyes and got hugs from Josh,
Visited a bagel psychic who made amazing avocado and sundried tomato creamcheese,
Then we hit the road.
“The road” just outside of Steamboat, next stop, liquor store before we cross the state line so we can take some good beer back to Utah.

Turbodog! checkin out the Colorado foothills/countryside.

WTF is ths guy doing? oh, and they were going like 65mph!

DINOSAUR!!!!!!!!!
Anytime we saw the word “dinosaur” Jess and I were inclined to yell it at the top of our lungs.
We were excited because we realized we had time to stop and check the park out on the way back to Park City
See, originally, the plan was Jess would ride to Steamboat with me, then I would go on to Denver, and she would catch the bus back to Park City, I decided to forgo a single day in Denver, when my next stop from there was Vegas, and instead took Jess back home, after a stop at DINOSAUR! national Monument druning the day.

DINOSAUR!!
I mean… Utah!

Are we there yet?

One word comes to mind here…
“SHIT.”
Yep, got a ticket… 80 in a 65…. ah well…

DINOSAUR!
The Utah side is where the bones are. we stopped on the Colorado side,(the sign we took pics by a few days prior)
No bones there. and the visitor center is only open during summer…
This side is open year round and is pretty cool!

Well for some reason the memory of who this guy was eludes me…
a casting of one of the most complete skeletons they found here,
The actual skeleton is at the Carnegie Natural History Museum in Pittsburgh.

Allosaur vs baby Stegosaurus there is a reason you don’t find many baby dinosaur skeletons.
This is the most complete baby stego fossil they’ve found… The mural helpfully depicts why.
Can you imagine the look on a little kid’s face when they make the placement connection here?
Now imagine it on my face… no, I actually laughed really hard when i realized what was going on here.
But I’m twisted.

Allosaur trifecta!
The one in the Mural looks like he’s seen a ghost!
The Fossil Quarry… Totally Real, they just built a building around it to protect the findings… So neat!
Off the road thru the monument, there are lots of hiking trails, many of which  take you to Petroglyph sites.

O

Campground and Boater’s access…The takeout to the Green River I believe…
I’m gonna work here… it’s gonna be my river takeout… I can feel it.
Real soon… like, this summer soon. YEAH!
no, really.

A few hours after dark, we arrived back in park city, safe and sound, with stories to tell.
The next day I would spend driving… for 11 hours…
And so, my adventures in Utah would come to an end for now…
But you can’t start one adventure before you finish the last!

Todays installment of Vicariously Thru Me takes place in Steamboat, Colorado.
Okay, that was far too official.  anyhoo…
Here are some pictures from my adventures with Josh and Jess
Ro-Sham-Bo night…
You play rock, paper, scissors with the bartender, if you win, your drink is free.
I won a couple rounds…. had a couple more bought for me… yeah, fun night.

Jess and I actually started the night a few doors down.
It was happy hour, we got there just as it got started, we met up with  Brennan, who we work with in WV.
His lady, Catherine,  joined us just as I was leaving the bar to take the car back to Josh’s place.
We had driven into town to wandered the shops and have the full tour until Josh went to work, then, “TO THE BAR!”
After 2 Pints of Colorado beer, (following over a week n Utah where beer is 3.2%) I decided it was time to go park the car and ride the bus back.  If I had another beer, it wouldn’t have been an option.
Once I rejoined the group, we moved on down the street and parted until Josh joined us, then some more!
Yeah… I hurt a little the next morning…

So we decided the time had come to head home, we were all sufficiently smashed, myself, FAR MORE than usual… Walk out the door… IT’S SNOWING!!!  The natives and tourists, alike, dancing in the street.

Jess, failing to see the irony in her making an angel… hehe it was in the street.
Shortly after she got up, a cop pulled up and rolled down his window.
“Look, I know you’re excited, I get it, I do. But do me a favor guys, stay out of the street.”
Josh shook his hand and assured him that we would.
The man in the snow… happy boy!

That night, after the bus ride, all gets a bit blurry… the pictures were too, hehehe…
I vaguely remember using my dog as a pillow for a while…
I do know I broke my not drinking to the point of being sick rule…Whiskey… UGH… yeah, didn’t want that for a while.
Woke up in pain, but not as much as you’d think.
The snow we got amounted to about an inch and a half… bummer…
By noon we were headed to the mountain anyway. It was bitter cold out, and the conditions were icy, but it was woth it.
I was kind of off  my game, for obvious reasons, couldn’t seem to find my rhythm on a snowboard… I felt like a grouchy toddler most of the day, which pissed me off, hence the vicious mental cycle ensued…
The T-bar, a local bar on the mountain,  where we had lunch was amazing tho. That helped…
We went back to the house to warm up and a nap in front of the fireplace helped me alot too.
Later it was time for the traditional Wed night bonfire I’d been hearing so much about. Hooray!

It starts… there is a HUGE pile of pallets behind me…

Who doesn’t love a little fire dancing?  Good thing carharts are flame retardant.

Moon Rise over the mountain… looks pretty full.

Pallet pyramids, the challenge of the evening… that and keeping your feet warm.
It was in the negatives this night… good thing we had a fire to rotisserie by!

Building the largest stack of the night, 7 pallets

TOASTY!
(for like 5 minutes)

Now that’s a fire!
Evidently, the fire department, could see our fire from their HQ… but they knew it was wednesday.

fun with reflections

The fire’s trying to eat the moon!

Slow-Mo Snow Melt

This is really what the walk back after the fire looked like.
Maybe Steamboat is Magic afterall…

Josh was a fantastic host, Jess, a terrible buffer… and Good times were had by all.
Next morning, bagels and then headed back to Park city…
I decided to forego Denver for lack of time and limited funds… I’ll make it back there eventually.

As always, for more details into the stories, post a comment!
See you when I share the next part of the adventure!!

More updates!!!
So we left off and I was back in Park City…
Did another day or so of skiing, packed up my stuff and got ready to go….
Next stop, Steamboat!!
The plan was to kidnap Jess and take her with me to visit our friend Josh in Colorado, (that part happened!)
Brian ,charming two bitches, even though he was too hungover to go skiing with me.

Headed up the mountain for my last run at Deer Valley

So, by the time Jess got off work, and i finished packing the car, we got a bit of a late start…
Finally on the road, we pass Park City resort on the way out of town.
oooh… ahhh….

My kidnap victim…
Josh didn’t know that Jess was coming to Steamboat with me, the plan was to call 5 minutes away, then hide with the camera while Jess knocked on the door.
We ended up meeting him at a bar… but we rolled up rockin out to some Salt-n-Peppa!
He loved his surprise!

Quick stop, just across the border of Utah and Colorado…
Obviously the park was closed, but photo op was necessary nonetheless.
I got back into the car and sat on my phone, 10 miles later, we did a U-turn because we couldn’t hear it ringing when Jess called it for me… turns out I just had no service.

One view from inside the hottub… good way to start a weekend!

Downtown Steamboat, viewed from Josh’s hottub.

Hope you enjoyed this update! more to come soon! Please drop a comment if you want to hear more detailed stories on any of the pics!

So… Here we are! It has been a VERY busy month!
Since New Years Eve, I have traveled about 5,500 miles.
I’ve had very little access to the internet, hence my lack of updates. Now, I’ve had internet for a week and I’m overwhelmed by the number of stories to tell and I don’t want to detail you to death with all of them.
So, I have decided to do this more as a photo journal. I’m chosing the pictures I want to show you, then giveing them captions. Please, If you are interested in more of the story surrounding a photo or adventure, tell me! I will be happy to elaborate, a little direction is really helpful!
It will take me a few posts to get updated so I guess we’ll just start where I left off last time.
Still in Park City, Utah, my adventures continued….
Nothin but class!
We decided to go out to a bar to play some pool… good times ensue.

My cute lil sis zoned out on whatever is playing on the TV behind my head…
Notice the choppers, we found out the sushi bar upstairs serves rolls for half price from 10 to 11pm.
We were unable to resist the deliciousness.  I was to concerned with eating it to take a pic of the sushi.
I found myself on a trail that was steeper than this picture gives it credit for.
Having been over a decade since I’d been on skis, I feel like I did pretty darn well!
View of the reservoir/lake from a double blue trail at Deer Valley.

I am so graceful!  look at me! I’m not laying in the snow!

Another Great view from Deer Valley.
Too bad you could see some much brown..
Shortly after I left Utah, as I predicted, they finally got the snow they’d been praying for.
Another shot of me feelin’ styley on skis! Oooh, hockey stop! Fancy!
I stopped into the tuning shop to pay Jess a visit, only to find her inside the edging machine…
She came out looking sharp.
Ahem… It was tune the tuning machine day.
Later that evening, I rolled down the hill to SLC to see  some more of my favorite people
Here’s Lara at the Russian Christmas party she took me to.
IT’S SNOWING!!!
Lara and I rolled up the hill to Brighton to meet Mark as he finished his grooming shift.
First time snowboarding this year for me, and we got 5 niches of fresh powder to play in, hooray!
I got brand new bindings for my board, this being the inaugural run for them, one of them broke at the top of the hill on what became my last run. Fortunately, it was just a ladder strap, so an easy fix, but annoying none-the-less.
But we had a great time!

Mark, Intently trying to do something on his fancy smartphone…
I really dont remember what it was he was doing, but  like how this picture came out!
Heading back up to ‘Heathen Hill’, as the Mormons call  Park City…
Hoping these clouds will mean more snow, they unfortunately did not.
Shelby and Alulah snuggling and sharing Shelby’s bed as I work to get my stuff together to get back on the road.

A couple of cute bitches snuggled up for the night… I am still packing at this point.
It takes me forever to pack because I get distracted easily…

I will leave you with those for now… My plan is to post more tomorrow! Now that I’ve started, I should be able to catch up! enjoy! and like I said, please, let me know if you want to hear extra stories in between!!

So this week is freaking flying!I am having such a fun time hanging with some (but not all) of my favorite Aceholes in Park City, UT.
New years, I told you about, we had a great time, recovery the next day was a little rough, but not too bad.  We all kind of hung around on the first, had some food, lounged… napped… it was recovery day.
Monday, pretty much everyone had to work. Not all at the same time, but at some point throughout the day. I slept in when Jess left and hung around the house for a while… visiting with the roomates while they filtered in and out of the house.
Talked about books and climbing and boating with Dan for awhile… then decided it was time to take advantage of the giant bathtub in the master suite.
A brilliant decision…. I soaked, read a chapter or two of my book… ate mashed potatoes…
Aaah… ultimate comfort.
wait. mashed potatoes in the bathtub??
Yup. I made a cup of instant spuds as the tub was filling  and decided just to eat them while soaking.
Being that I’m not really looking for a whole lot of “special attention” lately, and as a raft guide, I’m not really in the habit of doing it anyway… I’ve been a little lax on the whole shaved legs thing…
I’m not trying to impress anyone, I’m wearing pants every day, why bother?
But… I was in the bath, so I went ahead and took care of that… and after putting in such an effort, it seems a waste to not go the full 9 yards and get dolled up afterward.
It was an absolutely gorgeous day out. we’re talking upper 50s, sunny… not a cloud in the sky… so I then decided to take my poochie out for some explorations… I drove around old Park City and up to Deer Valley where most of my friends here work.. Then up a random road into a fancy high end mountain neighborhood on a sun drenched hill.  Parked near the top and Shelby and I went for a walk in the sunshine.
Following this little adventure, we went back down into the historic part of Park City, which is a cool area with lots of shops and restaurants… a little hoity toity… but i like it anyway. We wandered around and did some window shopping.
I went back to the house for a while… I ended up getting most of the house (5 or 6 people)  to nerd out and watch a few episodes of Dr Who with me. hehehe yay!
Later that night, I went with Julie and Jess to meet up with our friend Kip who is super awesome and hooked me up with skis for the week and a few passes to DV!  Then we followed him up to the house he was getting ready to move out of just because he wanted us to see how (in his words) redonkulous it was.  Oh, and it is. Holy poo this place was huge and beautiful. and what a view!
We spent some time over there, enjoyed some of Kip’s scotch and some munchies and good conversation.
around 12:30 we realized what time it was and decided to head home.
A very pleasant day, I’d say.
The next day was even better!
Jess and I originally planned to go skiing… which I have been a bit apprehensive about merely because I haven’t been on skis in about a decade. We ended up sleeping in later than we planned and by the time we got up… the weather was absolutely gorgeous.
Now, I know it’s January and WE DEFINITELY WANT SNOW.  However, if it’s going to be too warm to snow, I can’t help but be glad that it’s beautiful and Sunny out instead of being 38 and rainy.
Anyhoo… Jess and I decided instead of skiing, we would go for a hike.
And Jess had an absolutely brilliant idea for afterward….
So we took both my dog, and Brian’s, and headed over to a hill with some trails.
We ended up hiking all the way to the top… stopping every now and again to take pictures.
Squishing through the mud where the sun had melted the snow, the dogs loving every minute of it.
Shelby would run ahead and back past us and ahead again leading us up the mountain while Ahlula would do her best to trip us up as we hiked up the hill. Silly dog took “on you heels” to a whole new level… until she found her stick.
So picture a 20 pound Boston terrier, now picture here dragging a 4 foot long by 1-1/2 inch diameter stick up a mountain covered in sage brush. Oh! and, she would only carry it near the middle. She would not drag it by the end! Poor little dog kept clothes-lining herself  because the stick would get caught in the brush every 3 feet or so. But the stick made it all the way up and back down to the car. we estimate this hill to be a good 800 vertical feet from the road… but we probably hiked 5 miles in all of the zigzagging we did. maybe more!
Following the hike, we hit the grocery store and I started a pot of chili and a big batch of cornbread for everybody in the house to enjoy.
Then it was time for Jess’s brilliant idea. She found a massotherapy school in SLC that had 2 openings at the same time this evening. so we and got hour long massages for $30 each. It was wonderful.
looking up toward the top of the mountain.. the moon accompanied us on our hike.

A view of Park City Resort (i think) thru the shrubberies.

Jess, trying to catch the moon.

I think one of my favorite things to photograph is reflections.  I made her hold still for a while until one came out to my standard. i did not edit this photo at all.

Shelby, leading the pack, with Ahlula still carrying her stick as we begin our descent down the road on the back side of the hill… It didnt take us long to decide to bushwhack down the sunny side of the hill to get back…

quick stop for a photo op on the way down

this hill was seriously steep… the photo can’t really  show it from on the hill…

What was left of Ahlula’s stick. on the way down, i stepped on it a few times to help her with maneuvering… I was shocked when she lust left it there… no interest in taking it home.

Ahlula wore herself out!
Today(wed 1/4) was a blast too!!
Jess and I met my sister, Julie, and her roommate, Matt, at Deer Valley for some skiing.
I (of course) figured out what it was I felt like I was forgetting all morning…
My lift pass…
Fortunately, my lil sis had not yet left to meet us so she grabbed one of her guest passes for me to use.
For weeks I had been anticipating eating a lot of snow. I remember falling ALOT as a kid on skis.
As it turns out, I remember how to ski decently afterall! I actually did not fall at all today!
I guess there’s something to be said about a decade of visualization…
apparently that’s how you break bad habits… just don’t do the activity for a while and picture yourself doing it right, instead of as it actually is… then when you try it again, you end up with better form!
at least, i did… worked with gymnastics too!
I had a blast skiing today, and while by western condiions, the snow was crap… From an east coast perspective… it really wasn’t so bad. sure there was some ice.. but overall, it was fairly soft, considering… And it was beautiful out so it just felt like great spring skiing. AND I didn’t fall! not even once!
we’ll see how it goes tomorrow… hahaha i’m getting braver… thats dangerous.
Something’s missing…

A view from the top

Being artsy on the lift…

My entourage at the horizon line.  I think waterfalls freak me out a little less actually.
Julie and Matt can see their house from here… sort of.

Again with that amazing Moon. It’s following me 🙂
well there’s your catchup for the moment… have a good one!
OH! AND I CAME UP WITH A RESOLUTION!!!
My new years resolution for 2012 is to top 2011.
so far… a solid start.
I really will get around to doing a post following last year with some photos…
to show you what a challenge this will be.

Happy New Year!!
So overall, I would have to say, 2011 was a pretty fantastic year for me.
My resolution had been to not settle for less than exactly what i want and/or not limit myself.  I feel like I did a reasonably good job at sticking to it. In fact, a repeat of the resolution is currently in the running for 2012. Along with it are ideas such as: “be more decisive”, “quit chewing my nails(been trying this for decades)”, and “stop sugarcoating”…. perhaps a combination of all of the above….
So, is everybody ready for the end of the world??
Hah!
Yeah, I don’t so much buy into the idea. I’m more inclined to believe it to be when the earth hits the begining of it’s orbit in the galaxy. Merely a beginning of a new galactic year.  I really don’t see much changing down on out little planet as far as cataclysmic events…. Business as usual.
However, that isn’t to say I will refrain from my adventuring.
Oh, nono no no!
missed it when i hit 100k on my odometer… but it happened on the way to UT, i have proof!

Just because it’s not the end of the world doesn’t mean my time isnt short. In the Universal sense, I have merely seconds. And I want to see and doo as much as I possibly can before my time is up!

So I shall continue this blog as I start my new year in new places!
I attended last night’s traditional festivities at the winter home of some wonderful river rat friends of mine, in Park City, UT.
WOO! New Year, new State to play in!
It was Jess’s birthday so I made her a fancy birthday cake… which we failed to photograph before we demolished it… but here is a photo of the aftermath.
the morning after…
it still tastes really good!

I definitely let my inner fat kid out to help!

It was 4 layers. 2 of confetti cake, 2 of dark chocolate, with orange marmalade inbetween layers to moisten and flavor.
Then, I topped it with a rich chocolate ganche (homemade of course),hite/dark chocolate curls and candied orange peel.
Flavor-wise, it was up there with my cousin’s wedding cake i made a few years ago… (that one was dark chocolate raspberry and rum).  I shall continue this hobby!
This party was a blast, just lots of fun people hanging out, chatting and laughing over a few drinks. Half the group, people I’ve known for a while, i work with them in WV. The rest, friends of friends or new aquaintences, adopted into the group via a roomate search. But just a fantastic group of upbeat fun people.

A toast! …in any clean glass we can find.

Just after midnight, a neighbor came over and crashed our party for a few minutes…some of us assumed, by his outfit that he was a late night mormon visitor…But actually he came in order to invite us to come to his party, right across the back yard!
Unfortunately, i forgot to take my camera ofer there because they had a really fun theme, it was a 60’s party, everyone was dolled up retro, there were fabulous munchies, a couple guys in the kitchen shaking martinis for everyone.  A bunch of us went and ended up making more new friends and just having a great time, dancing and cavorting until people started to trickle out, headed back to their condos or to waiting cabs. Super nice neighbors, my friends have!
Woke up this morning, amazingly, I wasn’t hurting too bady. Altho this was not the norm for the house. Some folks had to work, and stumbled into clean clothes and out the door… Jess, I believe, mentioned still feeling drunk when she left… ouch.  Those of us still in the house when I got up, did a little tidying up and made some breakfast together. waffles with eggs and sausage… not a bad start to the new year! Looks like the rest of the day will be pretty chill… most of the house is currently napping….
I’m thinking a post depicting a month by month of my year 2011 may be in order… I think I’ll spend the afternoon trying to narrow down the pictures I’ll show you…

Well, My last week in Idaho was quite fun, overall.
 I don’t remember if I blogged about Christmas… I think I did… but did I post pics?
Grama-C and the loverly treat arrangement she put out to go with our mimosas
Heather, modelling her gift from me, Hat and beard. She’s spent the past weeks showing it to everybody!

Hit up Pine Flats hot springs one night.(took the camers but it was too dark and the flash only showed mist)
Got to experience a very strange driving phenominon on the way back.  It had snowed while we were off the road, and being a faily low traffic area we had first tracks… Which sounds cool, but when it’s snowing hard, with big flakes, and you’re getting that Startgate effect where you have trouble focusing past the snow because having it fly past you in a tunnel like effect is so mesmerizing….Yeah, it’s creepy because without tracks from other cars to give me point of reference, it felt like i wasn’t moving. if i had been on a long, wide, straight road, that would have been really cool. But I was on a narrow, winding mountain road with a cliff on one side and a precipice on the other. It was kinda scary! oh and my ABS is out because my snow chains caught and ripped the wire loose. It took all of 3 seconds for me to turn on 4wd when i hit the snow.
The next day, I had a run in with Drew Barrymore While having lunch with a new friend at Bar Gernika, a Basque restaurant in downtown Boise. Awesome food, by the way.
Later that night, we had an awesome Sushi Night with Heather, Nick, John and Adam (I forgot the camera…. sorry)… Ate Way too much Sushi while the doggies played.
I felt like you do after thanksgiving…fluffy tummy… but less sleepy.
I got the fish from a market in town, the fresh Ahi arrived there a few minutes before i did. it must have been meant to be. They even had some of my favorite sushi items, wasabi tobiko, escolar, seaweed salad… i could have easily spent far more than I did!
We also invented some saki drinks cocktails. we mixed Saki with some of Nick’s amazing homemade Ginger Beer (not for kids) awesome. Then we tried it with the pineapple infused saki i made. YUM.
Next day, Heather and I had a friend date and saw the Muppet movie. it was fantastic. It did make me miss puppeting… I would love to be a proppeteer for muppets! make and control the tertiary puppets… like the talking  vegetables in the sweedish chef’s kitchen or things like the eyeball fungus on the walls of the Labyrinth…. How fun would that be?! maybe one day…
Anyhoo.. We followed the movie with a shared stuffed crepe and italian soda across the way then went on a search to find the perfect yarn for my beard. I’ll post the pics when it’s done…
(Heather’s wearing hers above)
Met up with some friends for a beer and a snack, but only hing out for a bit before we all decided we were tired and parted ways…
I went home and packed up my stuff to tetris into the car in the morning.
Of course, I woke up and it was raining…. ah well.. packed my stuff up and went to trash Nick’s kitchen one more time…
I had a cake to bake… so I made 2, I mean how could I make Sick watch (and smell) me making this delicious dark chocolate and candied orangepeel cake and not let him try some?  plus we had a party to go to! what better way to get a group of culinary guinea pigs?
Cake finished, we headed over to Jeremy’s for Poker night…. I can’t help but with my ex had been there…. not so much because i miss him… definitely not that. merely that… well… somehow, even tho he’s quite a good poker player, I always beat him.  I was first one out of the game this time…. twice.  but with the variety of excellent home brews and rare beers that our gracious host served, I would say, $10 is a very small price to pay for such a fun night! and besides, i got knocked out of the game on good hands, one was 2 pair, the other was a full house! I played well…. i think…
Woke up this morning on Jeremy’s futon ready to roll. somehow, I am not hungover! WOO!
View of the game thru my beer… one of many delicious brews this evening.
Photographing photographers…. fun! not really sure what was going on here…
I’ve been on the road for a couple of hours and stopped for lunch. Next stop, Utah! New Year’s Bday party for the lovely Jess and a week of fun with some of my favorite people including my lil sis!
